Find the best orthodontist

Not a specialtyThe treatment of ATM problems is not an “official” speciality of medicine, dentistry or any other field of health. However, there are many dentists, orthodontists, physiotherapists, etc. who have developed a particular affinity for temporomandibular joint dysfunction disorders and some expertise in the treatment of ATM-related problems and have some success in treating people affected by these problems. Because of the large volume of patients that some of these clinicians follow, they indirectly “specialize” by dedicating a portion of their practice to treating these types of problems. Some even “limit” their clinical practice to the treatment of these problems, but this does not make them “specialists in temporomandibular joints“. Some could be qualified as experts in the field of ATMs because they have developed significant expertise but cannot be considered as “specialists” if no professional body officially recognizes this field of specialization. Your best chance of success in finding a qualified person to treat ATMs would be to get information from people in the dental field. Perhaps your general dentist can refer you to another practitioner if he or she does not treat these problems? |
